Measles Cases in 2026

As of October 29, 2026, 4,852 confirmed measles cases were reported in the United States, with 4,834 cases reported by 47 jurisdictions and 18 cases among international visitors. Of these, 96% (4,666 cases) were outbreak-associated, including 3,282 from outbreaks starting in 2026 and 1,384 from outbreaks that began in 2025. The U.S. has seen a rise in measles activity due to declining MMR vaccination coverage among kindergartners, which dropped to 92.4% in the 2025–2026 school year, and increased global measles transmission. Measles remains eliminated in the U.S., but outbreaks occur when the virus is introduced by unvaccinated travelers and spreads in communities with low immunity.
