It is an independent information service, not a medical provider, and not a substitute for professional medical advice or your local public health department's own guidance.

Public Health Trace pulls from the sources listed below. Each card shows what the source covers, when it was last successfully imported, and a link to the agency's own site. Sources still being connected are labeled honestly rather than shown as if they were already flowing data -- see our methodology page for how imports and staleness are tracked.
CDC National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) weekly case counts by disease and state.
CDC National Outbreak Reporting System (NORS) -- foodborne, waterborne, and enteric outbreak investigations.
CDC Travel Health Notices -- official travel health guidance and alert levels by destination.
EPA AirNow -- official current air quality observations, forecasts, and Action Day advisories by reporting area, including EPA's own Air Quality Index (AQI) and pollutant-level detail.
openFDA's Food Enforcement dataset -- official FDA food recall records.
FDA's public food-safety-recalls RSS feed, a lighter complementary path alongside the enforcement dataset above.
USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) meat, poultry, and egg product recalls, retrieved through a CDC-hosted combined food-safety feed after USDA's own API began blocking cloud-origin traffic.
World Health Organization Disease Outbreak News -- published international outbreak bulletins, distinct from a U.S. investigation feed.
openFDA's Drug Enforcement dataset -- official FDA drug recall records. This is the structured, authoritative source Public Health Trace uses for drug recalls; a newly announced recall may appear on FDA.gov's own recall-announcement page (see "FDA Drug Recall Announcements" below) days before it appears here.
FDA's own recall-announcement page, LLM-extracted -- an early-warning companion to the openFDA Drug Enforcement dataset above, which remains the sole authoritative source. A recall can appear here days before the matching openFDA enforcement record exists; these are shown as pending announcements until confirmed matched, never as official enforcement records.
FDA Food Recall Announcements
FDA outbreak investigation narrative pages. FDA currently publishes these only as prose web pages, with no API, RSS, CSV, or XML feed -- there is nothing machine-readable to connect to today.
Georgia Department of Public Health surveillance data. No public machine-readable feed has been found for this source yet.
