Corrections policy
Public Health Trace republishes data from official government sources. If something looks wrong, outdated, or missing, we want to know -- here's how to report it and what to expect.
How to report an issue
Use our contact form and choose the "Data issue" category. To help us investigate quickly, please include:
- A link to the specific recall, outbreak, disease, food, or state page on Public Health Trace
- What you believe is wrong (for example: a date, a status, a company name, a missing record)
- A link to the official source record, if you have one, so we can compare directly
How we review a report
We first check whether the issue is in how Public Health Trace imported or displayed the data, or whether it's already present in the original source record. If it's an import issue, we fix it directly. If the error exists in the original source (the CDC, FDA, or USDA record itself), Public Health Trace can't alter that agency's data -- we'll note what we found and point you to the agency's own channel for requesting a correction at the source.
Response expectations
Public Health Trace is a small, independently run service, not a newsroom with a dedicated corrections desk. We aim to acknowledge reports within a few business days, though response times can vary. Every record on the site shows its own last-updated date, so you can always check whether a specific page has changed since you last viewed it, without waiting on a reply.
Editorial standards
See our editorial policy for how titles and summaries are generated, and our methodology page for how data is imported and refreshed.
