Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Moringa Leaf Powder
A multistate outbreak of Salmonella Richmond was linked to contaminated moringa leaf powder products. The FDA identified a single lot of organic moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farmdirect PVT LTD in India as the source. Recalled products include several brands such as Food to Live Organic Moringa Leaf Powder, Organic SuperGreens Powder mix, Africa Imports Organic Moringa Powder, and Member's Mark Super Greens Powdered Supplements. An investigation found 11 cases across 7 states, with 3 hospitalizations and no deaths. Public health officials used epidemiologic, traceback, and laboratory data to confirm the outbreak and recommend recalls.
